Raises an interesting question
Do we need to have something for our guests to throw at us after we are pronounced husband and wife? [...] What do you think? As a guest, is fun to have something to “do” like toss confetti at couple? Maybe some noisemakers would be better? Or should we just skip it and get to the champagne?Well, what DO you think? I like throwing petals or bubbles. I think it's fun for the guests, and makes for pretty pictures, too.

Let's see...
I have been to weddings with Bubbles, bird seed, kazoos and Penny Whistles and one with Rose Petels that matched the Bridesmaids Dresses.

how badly do you want to be pelted by stuff?
pillows. let's do big, fluffy, down pillows. an impromptu pillow fight is always in order.

Bubbles are fun, if possibly slippery. Bird seed (along with rice) is forbidden at a lot of places because of the mess and slip hazard. Flower petals are fun.
Yes, throwing stuff is good times.

Skip the whistles.
Which, tangentally, raises a question -- how are you arriving at/departing from the wedding? A limo? I was just thinking that "decoration of escape vehicle is inversely proportional to the ability of the guests to pelt you with objects" but realized you wouldn't necessarily have a personal escape vehicle. Odd.

I like the idea of flower petals -- especially if I can get them in our colors. I've seen pictures with petals in the air, and it does look awesome and cool.
As for transportation, we haven't thought all that much about it. Just a nice car, I think. If it's a nice day, I love the idea of the whole bridal party walking from the church to the club, but I may be misremembering the distance.

Flower petals if anything. Pretty and romantic and biodegradable.
At our wedding we went straight for toasts, but since we were doing it at our own house, anything thrown was one more damn thing to clean up.

just a note of caution, if your dress is lacey watch out for birdseed. It can get caught in the lace. My sister spent half of her reception picking seeds out of her dress!
If you are still looking for purple shoes I saw two great pairs at Macy's the other day, both by BCBG. There was a peep toe sling back and a strappier, more sandley one.
